Data Replication

Data replication can solve the most urgent tasks:

  • Back-up : Safe storage of copy of data information on alternative storage devices or on a remote site.
  • Managing local copies of data to provide information support for the organization.

Such an operation may be provided with built-in software systems, but in this case, the implementation of a centralized replication is impossible. The replication of data and the application level will cause additional stress on computational power of servers. With a view to leveling these deficiencies, they are using special software replicators, or hardware data replication without the participation of dedicated servers.

The method of replication can be applied in one of two modes – synchronous or asynchronous. Synchronous mode of replication ensures the absolute validity of data, but requires the use of high-speed communications infrastructure, for example, the introduction of SAN.

  • Data back-up

An effective way to eliminate the loss of information arising from failures, is mirroring. However, this method of data backup can not address one significant cause of loss – the invalid actions of users. Backing up data to avoid losses in case of hardware or software failures and operator errors that arise later.
